about

From 24ourmusic.net:

"Hailing from Philly are the GTVs, touted as possibly the premier mod-soul combo from the area. The band is composed of four main musicians: Sam Steinig on the Hammond Organ (that’s right, an organ), Pat Wescott on the guitar, Scott Galper on the drums, and Patrick Crowling on the bass.

The first thing of note about the recently released Organ Donor is its popping aesthetic. The sound of an album is one thing, but when everything else is also bang-on, that just adds top value to the overall product. But on to the opening track which the short EP is named after. Honestly, the funky combination of organ-led instrumentals really brings back that stellar mod-soul feel they claim to have. My head was bobbing to the groovy tune within the first ten seconds, and I definitely got excited about the sole track left on the album.

“Here’s a Thing” starts off a bit mellow, a bit softer. The effect is the same after a while though, as the GTVs soothing sound begins to emerge once again. You don’t hear an organ in many pop tracks on the airwaves, but after listening to Organ Donor, you start to wonder why not? Overall this short album is definitely worth the 6$ purchase. Although it contains only two (stellar) tracks, the songs themselves are works of art along with the all the paraphernalia that comes along with it."

From seosaimhm.blogspot.com

"Hailing from Philadelphia The GTV's have delivered a knock out piece of soul that wouldn't sound out of place in 1964 Scene club or other original Mod disco. With parping horns and swirling organ this is a certified future dance floor classic groove that mixes Booker T with James Taylor Quartet and blends in a little of The Quik to give us a party on a 45rpm. There's an authentic feel from the two tracks on the 7" which is no wonder as reportedly this has been recorded in 1 take with vintage equipment - this really gives us a sense of the whole garageness at play here - there are many who try this to carry this off and fail but these lads have it down pat. Flip side is another instrumental that is a shade less frantic and again we get huge organ riffs stabbing away with some up front and crystal clear drumming taking the lead. Theres a definite vibe of go-go girls dancing in cages on this one."
