  • 7" Black vinyl, Limited Ed. 150 copies
    Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

THIS IS THE BLACK VINYL VERSION: Edinburgh, Scotland’s legendary purveyors of garage stomp, The Thanes grace Hidden Volume with a pair of aces on this new two-sider. Heavily indebted to Continental rave ups from the Lowlands as well as dancefloor freakbeat, the top-side “Don’t Change Your Mind” is a stop-start Hammond Organ and fuzz classic. The B-side “What You Can’t Mend” begins with chiming minor-key guitar before heading into a dark, organ-driven put-down of a song in the classic vein of New England Teen Scene loser rock. This is something both long-time fans and anyone who digs pure sixties garage rock movers will fall in love with.

This record comes in an edition of 300, 150 in Oxblood Red, 150 Black Vinyl. Housed in a beautiful spot-metallic jacket and metallic ink centre label by X10 that has to be seen to be believed, the single also includes a digital download card.

Includes unlimited streaming of Don't Change Your Mind via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

BIO:
The Thanes began in 1980 under the name The Green Telescope. From day one their sound was sixties reaped, a seeding which has never faltered as the band created and expanded their distinctive sound. The band name changed to The Thanes (of Cawdor) in 1986 with their debut album, self-titled with the new moniker, arising a year later. Its success led to the Edinburgh quartet starting to support and play with the likes of The Soup Dragons, Primal Scream, The Remains, The Sonics, and ? & the Mysterians across the following years. With numerous well-received releases, including another three albums, uncaged over the past decades, the line-up of vocalist/lead guitarist Lenny Helsing, bassist Mark Hunter, drummer Mike Goodwin, and guitarist/organist Angus McPake.

These latest waxings from The Thanes are just some of the results of sessions undertaken in organist, twelve-string player and songwriter Angus McPake’s self-built “Ravencraig” studio complex.
