Scarlet Rowe Brilliant, from top to bottom. A lovingly crafted sonic kaleidoscope of all that was great 60's pysch pop and rock n' roll...

Jenell Kesler It'd be too easy to call this album a full frontal assault on all that's come before, as the band has immersed themselves in jangle pop infused with 60's inspired AM radio singles. I doubt there are many who remember those hazy days, so you'll find these songs to be fresh, coming off as new pop jewels recently discovered and dusted off from the great beyond.

Jenell Kesler Favorite track: Rosemary.

Jordan Sovereign A band that wears their influences on their sleeves, but what a lot of great influences, covering the spectrum of classic 60’s pop bands. Tambourine is a great song that showcases the band’s ability to put together something great. Favorite track: Tambourine.

"Just as Obelix fell into the casserole of Miraculix when he was small, Nick Carlisi, as a young man, must have fallen into a similar pot of jelly fluids cooked by Ray Davies, because the Kinks vibes sit softly in the studio walls at this time, totally superb debut album from the Phildaelphia ensemble that has taken the name Groovy Movies, by the way a song of - yes, you guessed right, KISS, no wait Kinks! Kinks !!!.

Of course, we're not quite in Kinks, right from the pit, Do not take her love from me sounds like a forgotten pop psych jewel from the 60's, closer to Mrs. Robinson than anything Sir Davies has done. But chopped harsh and rudder than the monster heat for Paul and Art.

The jangly and folksy vibbes are continued on My heart will not let me go. An absolutely superb sugarcrumb of a song with coarse harmonies, Burmese guitars and a mood that makes summer last for a few months longer or minutes here in Bergen.

It's first with A walk in the park that the Kinks drops to Davies really are true, this is the archbishop's 60's pop, and it works like a snus in the dungeon. You event for a melody hit!

In what you think you have thought of what Nick Carlisi is doing, he pulls a card over the sleeve. The cash boogie pubrock blues rocker I'm a man, who can easily be heard by Nick Lowe, if any. Rockpile, is in many ways completely out of place in this company sounds, but in a simple way it works just like the shaver. Leave a total break with the rest of the disc, but at the same time it feels quite natural when it pops up - strange enough.

Sir Ray Davies is wondering in the scenes again on Beautiful day, even a little genre of a pop song based on the leisurely piano climes. There is a lot to suggest that Carlisi has the least intermediate subject on the subject of "authentic 60's compositions", because this sounds like a real thing - you could probably fool a connoisseur or two.

So far so good ... Where should this end believe? This sounds almost too good to be true, maybe you think - and yes, that's the way it is. Tambourine, where Groovy movies also nods politely to Beatles, unfortunately does not hold the same level as the first half of the record, and it's not going to slip under the chair that the last half is not as sharp, despite some harsh harmonies in Rosemary and a lot of uplifting at last Change your mind, which, with just over 6 minutes, accounts for 20% of the record time, the nine songs are watched in less than half an hour!

The conclusion must nevertheless be that this year is one of the nicest surprises of the year for the undersigned, and Groovy Movies has made it possible for 2017 to go down in the history books as an exceptionally snappy music year."
